My heart was pounding as I rode through the streets of San Francisco in my taxi cab. We were in September 2014. That evening, as I was coming back from a dinner with colleagues who were visiting from out-of-state, my life changed.
At that time, I was responsible for the marketing strategy and tactics of the department of radiology at UCSF. The doctors were counting on me to share the latest innovations and tools that could save people's lives.
On one hand, it felt great to connect with my colleagues and I was full of new business ideas and eager to put them into practice the next day… And it also hit me, “How the heck am I going to do all this?”
I’d been sick for months with a nasty cough and nothing seemed to help. I had even broken a rib from coughing so much! I had no energy, no strength, no vitality. I was also juggling the responsibilities of being a wife and a mom of 2, I felt overwhelmed, constantly tired, and with no control over my schedule. I rushed from one place to the next, feeling like I never stopped, and yet wasn't being efficient.
I was exhausted beyond anything I’d ever experienced and something had to change.
That night, I decided to quit my job and became a stay-at-home mom.
Quickly reality hit me: I was still really sick and the treatment given to me would take time and be tiring, I had no patience for my kids, and more than ever, I had all of my family’s responsibilities on my shoulders. I searched for a magic pill (spoiler: there isn’t one) and ended up feeling even more frustrated and discouraged.
I started a journey of exploration with one goal in mind: to discover what needed to change to bring more joy and spark into my life.
Until one day, I heard Chris Kresser talk about his health coach training program ADAPT, and my worldview changed. I understood that I was experiencing the mismatch between modern diet, lifestyle, the environment and my basic human biology.
To learn more, I joined the 12-month coach training program at the Kresser Institute, which is based on an integrated approach to health, which includes diet, physical activity, sleep, and stress management. I started experimenting, and I was amazed at the results! Taking care of myself led to so many positive changes in my life and the lives of the people around me. For instance, I uncovered which weekly practices best supported my health - meditation and ballet class - and learned to embrace imperfections as part of the journey. Becoming aware of my strengths and values allowed me to deepen my relationships and choose the best way I could serve my coaching clients. I also discovered the limited beliefs that were holding me back. You might wonder what does this have to do with health and wellness coaching? Wellness is more than the absence of illness: It’s a dynamic process with opportunities for growth and change that further physical, mental, and social well-being.
When I saw how deeply this work affected me, I wanted to help others. Since then it’s been my mission to help highly driven working moms break through chronic exhaustion and re-balance their lives between what they love to do and what they do for love, with ease and joy.
After getting my ADAPT Functional Health Coach credential in 2019, I also earned my certification from the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) in 2020, a comprehensive credential that includes training, education, and an exam administered in collaboration with the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 2023, I earned my International Coaching Federation (ICF) certification, another comprehensive credential that includes mentoring, performance evaluation, and a successful completion of ICF credentialing exam.
From Movement to Ballet
Movement is a great starting point to explore health and wellness: It has a way to activate what is good in us and access what is happening in us at any moment.
I love ballet and have been practicing it for 8 years now. Ballet is more than an exercise for me. Beyond the music and the community, it’s a journey of personal growth and a way to embody strength and vulnerability at the same time. Ballet makes me aware of what I aspire to, of the different ways I derail myself, and how I relate to feedback (both encouraging and constructive). Ballet taught me to better listen to my body and soul—to respect and nourish both. I believe anyone can find a way to be in touch with their body, and from that place reach their full potential.
What’s in it for you?
Yes, it's possible to be the optimal version of yourself, and I will support you so you can change the beliefs and habits that are getting in the way of your goals and dreams. As someone who is caring and intuitive, I will listen to you with curiosity and thoughtfulness to help you see your full potential and create an environment where you can pursue meaningful life experiences. What would it be like to look at your life with a sense of pride and fulfillment?
What makes my coaching different?
One of my strengths is to connect my client’s various life experiences. Once connected, they gain insights about what needs to be released, revised, or even embraced in their life. They gain clarity into their behaviors and how they might be sabotaging themselves. In addition, my somatic coaching training allows me to invite my clients to tap into the wisdom of their body and move toward aligning their body and mind.
